Features - Hot Cars Submitted by you

Well, I really liked your website and I guess I'd like to show off my cars too! I just started collecting in 2000. I bought the 61 Corvette in April and found the 57 Belair in September. Both have been outstandingly restored , numbers matching. The Belair is my show car and has only 120 miles since restoration. The Corvette turns out to be my "driver" but what a driver and what a lot of fun !!!! Thank you - there is a God and his name is Chevy !! Thanks, Lou Gopal

My "Euro" 55 Chevy. It's all black with gray leather interior. BMW 17" wheels, Porsche 911 mirrors and BMW side marker lights add to the theme. It's powered by a ZZ3 345 HP 350 CI small block backed up by a Corvette 700R4 overdrive trans. I'm currently installing a 90 Corvette independent rear suspension....20" European wheels are next

Well, this my 1966 Chevrolet
Belair. It was restored about 5 years ago and it's still looking sweet.
I am about to throw a supercharged 350ci in it. I live in Queensland Australia!!

This is my 31 Ford coupe that I've owned for over 18 years and put over 110,000 miles on it. The fellow sitting in my coupe is Paul LeMat "John Milner" cool huh!

This is a replica 1956 Mercedes Benz 300SLR. There were only 5 of these SLR cars originally made. They were factory racers capable of 180 mph with a inline 6 cylinder engine. These racers ruled LeMans and other major European races for several years. One was destroyed in a crash and 3 are in the MB collection. Only one is in private hands and it was advertised in Hemming's in 1997 for $1,200,000. That is why I drive a replica. This car has a fiberglass body with a custom chassis. The suspension is Mustang, the engine is Chevy 350 V8 with an automatic. The car weighs about 2,300 lbs so it move out nicely. This one will be up for sale or trade shortly so I can get a vintage road race car.

This is my 1980 Camaro z28, it has a rebuilt 350ci, with K&N filter under the hood, 2.5" exhaust under the car with performance cats' and flowmaster mufflers and at the end 3" polished tips. The wheels, front are 235/65/R15 and at the rear 295/50/R15 BFGoodrich radial T/A's, and Eagles polished centerlines for the rims.

I have had this car for three years now, and have redone everything, new
455, interior suspension and paint. The car was my first car, and has been
a blast to drive and work on. I love the looks and thumbs up I get driving
around Phoenix with the top down.

Hi, this is our 23t Altered race car, we race mostly at seattle International
raceway in the super/pro bracket. In 2000 we plan to race super/pro and
super/comp. The engine is a 454ci chevy , the chassis is chrome moly with
a 4-link rear suspension and 4 wheel disc brakes. at launch the car pulls
2.42 Gs , and is traveling at 67 mph at the 60' mark. that means 0-60 in
1.2 seconds.

A Blast to Drive,
I purchased this car in Arizona in 1992 and drove it back to Chicagoland.
The smooth contoured lines of this and the Olds with the rear tri-window configuration
have always been a favorite. I have been content to keep it in it's original
state (aside from having the engine rebuilt) but have been standing on the
sidelines long enough. It's time to do a mild custom job. Nice paint, upgraded
interior, wheels/tires and, yes, a lower stance should do it. But first I
have to get over the sticker shock of purchasing those replacement ball joints....
Cheers, D. Jan Cella

'29 Ford Roadster from Ron Remund in Sisters, Oregon

I built this custom 23T with a friend of mine using very unique proven chassy design. The frame is double rail rectangular tube. Front suspension is a 4 bar with adjustable Alden shocks. The rear end utilizes a Curri 9 inch Ford with a posi 456 cog. Wheelbase is 125 inches combined with the low CG gives this machine incredible stability during quick accelerating quarter mile passes. Power comes from 427 open chamber rectangle port 10.5 to 1 Chevy. Sitting on top is a set is an Offy single plane dual quad with 600-cfm vacuum secondary Holly's. The transmission is a turbo 400 with a full manual valve body shifted w a B&M. The torque converter is an A-1 9-inch unit with a 4200 RPM stall. Any questions send to E-mail ajmanoog@aol.com

I will own the car until I am too feeble to drive it, (at which time I will
hire someone to drive me around, or have my Honey drive us), or I am not of
this Earth anymore.

We didn't get any text with this one, but it looks like a '67 cobra - a real
beauty!

This is my 1952 chevy pickup. It has a 283 connected to a powerglide, disc brakes, power steering and a tilt column. I drive it every day to work and have driven it twice to Laughlin Nevada for Roddin on the River. I did all of the work myself.
Here is a picture of my 87 GT mustang Ibought in 1991. Since then I have done many modifications to it including the following..
The
302 block has been replaced with a 1970 Boss 302 block which has been modified
with fly-cut speed pro pistons, bored .030,clevite 77 bearings through out,
an E-303 cam, double roller timing gears, polished rods fitted with arp studs,
i kept the comp ratio at 10.2 to keep it smog legal since i live in Calif,
The upper part of the motor is fitted with edelbrock 5.0 alum heads which
are completely done. I also use omega 1.72 roller rockers, a hartman power
box fitted to the stock lower intake which has been extrude honed, a edelbrock/bbk
70mm throttle body, a 155 litre fuel pump,an svo fuel regulator along with
2 1/2 inch exhaust all the way back thru dynomax super turbo's and Mac 1/58
shortie headers wrapped in thermo tech and sprayed. I also use a hypertech
comp chip which is no longer made which made quite a difference (a 3mph gain
in the 1/4 mile). I use an MSD 6al ignition along with an accel super coil
and saleen spiral wire set, plus a march ram air system. I use a 7003x T-5
(super duty), a center force dual friction clutch system with a hurst short
throw shifter with shifter stops for a real nice short throw. Outback is an
8.8 auburn diff with c-clip eliminators and 3.55 (richmond gears)plus an alum
drive line w/loop and center line billett star wheels 15x8 1/2 on 245/50/15's
out back and 225/50/15's up front. As you will see the hood is quite unique
as i had it modified my way instead of the way it came stock,it is fiberglass
btw. the car weighs 2830lbs. I have done alot to lighten it up, so the power
to weight ratio is quite good for daily street use and being smog legal too.
The color is PPG cabernea which was real close to the factory color only a
little lighter and softer. I'm in the process of installing a 150hp NOS kit.
with that done, i'll have all the power i'll ever need, as its awful fast
as it is right now. It has bested 12.3@118mph and I expect mid to low 11's
with the NOS running. I have many mods done inside the interior such as a
radar, laser detector, a passive radar jammer, an active laser jamer (lidatek
echo laser jammer) which is just flat awesome, a ham rci-2950 ham radio w/400
watt shoes, an accell shift light, a BCT-800 (bootlegged) scanner, cyberdyne
digital air-fuel ratio guage and oil pressure gauge mounted in the saleen
dual gauge pod kit. plus alot more..

This

I love driving it everywhere, because of the looks that it gets. Eddie (CA)
This
is my hot car. It is a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlas Supreme Convertable. It has
a 3 inch drop on it, and it is sitting on stock, 16 inch rims, and factory
replacement Nitto tires. It currently has a K & N Filter Charger from
an S-10, and a complete stereo from Pioneer and JL audio. Spark plus wires
from VTeck are also under the hood. Since the picture was taken, all the badges
have been shaved, clear turn markers up front and two Flowmaster, 2 chamber,
mufflers with 4.5 inch tips. A new paint job if next. Maybe a fade to red,
don't know yet. Look for my car cruising the streets of Phoenix and surrounding
area, along with the rest of Desert Images. Erik Zahnow

Hi there, I'm sending you an image of my oh, not so hot car, but I think it
would add a little humor to the gallery, This is a 1987 russian made VAZ (Lada)
with a 1300 engine. Not very powerfull but powerfull enough to get the
flame running at about 95mi/h (a frightening experience!!! the car was vibrating
like crazy and it was all over the, not so smooth, road), original interior
(what's left of it) and a custom paint job done by myself. Thanks to Modern
Technology the car is easily convertible to

I
have had this truck for a little over 18 months and love driving it. The looks,
stares, and thumbs up I get make the whole venture worth while. In it's present
state as seen here it has the original 347 V8 and 4sp hydromatic transmission.
I am working on a 383 stroker(475hp) and plan to mate that to a TH400 with
a narrowed 9" ford rearend(40" drum to drum). This winter I will
also be starting on the mustang II front end change over which should change
the ride, height and handling of the truck also making it a safer daily summer
driver. I look forward to taking her out finished in the spring. She is a
part of me that I will never be able to give up. If anybody has any ideas
or suggestions to help in my winter project I would gladly like to hear. This
is the first time I have tried taking on a project of this size and just reading
about others like them in the different publications does not give you the
full insight into the tasks required. Dan Rasmussen Calgary, Alberta, Canada

We just received a new photo of this truck from Dan along with a description of his recent mods.

Here is an updated photo of where my baby sits today. Since the first set of pics my 57 GMC has under gone a few changes. We removed all the sheet metal and running gear, blasted the frame and powder coated it in gloss black. Then we pulled out the old 347 V8 and installed a 527hp 383 stroker motor. The old 4sp hydromatic was swapped for a TH400 with a 3000 stall converter. Then the old 10 bolt rear end was tossed aside and a new narrowed 9 Ford with 3.5:1 posi with Strange axels was top mounted on new leaf springs in its place. This lowered the rear ride height by 5. The leaf spring, straight axel front end was removed in favor of a 74 Mustang II with power rack and pinion unit which lowered the front ride height by 7. The new Mustang II coil springs were not heavy enough so a custom set were made raising the height to its current stance. The front drums were also discarded and 11 power disks from a Granada were installed in their place. The stock column was replaced with a tilt unit 70 Chevy van. The entire truck was rewired using a Ron Francis kit. The factory gauges were replaced with a set from VDO. I still have the interior to finish but it is a joy to drive as it is.

The
old Chrysler (1979 Cordoba) still has factory paint two tone. Replaced pin
strip with graphic. Running a 360 with J heads and 10 to 1 pistons, headers
3" pipes and edelbrock rpm package. output around 395 hp 390 tor@4500.
