1769-1878: First Mission and Royal Presidio founded under Spanish rule. 1821-1837: Plaza and first houses established a village under Mexican government. 1840-45: Trade Cowhide and Tallow based economy was exercised. 1846-5 1: Transition from Mexican govemment to U.S. acquisition. Military occupation. Delineation of US/Mexican border. 1868-1872: Expansion to Alonzo Horton's "New Town". Transference of county records away from Old Town to New Town. |
