Michael Hamson Oceanic Art/Material Culture is a private gallery dealing in museum quality art primarily from New Guinea. "With a Masters degree in African and Oceanic Art History and years of field experience in the most remote areas of New Guinea I buy and sell older, authentic art that has passed the test of time within the culture that produced and used the piece. From Utilitarian objects such as bowls, plates and drums to the more ceremonial and ritually used items as figures and masks I search for both the unusual and the classic--but always for the beautiful".
Clarke
and Clarke Ethnographic Arts
Jim Clarke's passion for Asian and Tribal cultures began with his academic
interests in cultural anthropology and history. While traveling in Europe,
South East Asia and Africa he began independent study of the cultures that
fascinated him which led to acquiring art and artifacts, some of which he
collected and others he sold to continue his travel and studies. Ginny Clarke's
academic and professional experience developed her expertise in the world
of fashion apparel, textiles and jewelry. Her interest in tribal garments,
textiles and jewelry developed as she traveled and was a perfect compliment
to Jims area of interest. This marriage of experience provided the foundation
for the creation of Clarke and Clarke Asian Antiques and Tribal Art. The Clarkes
love of travel and the pursuit of exciting art, textiles and jewelry in the
communities that create them, provide the core of the ever changing inventory
in their Galleries. Every object collected, whether in the field or from old
established collections, is carefully researched and its authenticity fully
guaranteed. In many cases tribal art is accompanied by field notes or research.
Anahita
Gallery
Do you need a 19th century marble vanity from a Turkish palace? A heavy
iron lock or an old iron gate to hang it on? Or copper serving dishes, bowls
and trays for a party of one or two thousand guests? All these, and much,
much more, may be found at ANAHITA, a 3000 sq. foot warehouse stocked with
useful and very unusual antique wooden, ceramic, copper and iron decorative
objects and furnishings. The shop is geared towards professional designers
and architects - but the atmosphere is casual and friendly.
Jones
Gallery
We have been fine art dealers and appraisers since 1965, specializing
in traditional realism by contemporary American painters and sculptors. Paintings
of landscapes, still life, figurative and genre scenes in oil, pastel and
watercolor. Styles of painting may be impressionistic or realistic; the same
for bronze work. We handle quality paintings in the traditional manner by
19th and 20th century American and European artists. We have paintings for
the serious collector as well as for the first time art buyer. We also have
figurative sculpture by American artists. Again, quality art work is our by-word.
Master
Weaver Bill Rafnel
The damask weave structure and block designs provide the basis for my pieces.
We live within structure and yet our spirits seem to lift ever upward through
the fabric of our time. Using the damask weave with ever-changing geometric
shapes and color I strive to move from the fast pace of our exterior world
to the center of the contemplative world, the world of serenity. My weavings
are geometric landscapes that emerge through outward and inward imagery. They
embody the world as seen through the spiritual insight of a power greater
than ourselves. Using my hands and feet I weave the damask interlacement mixingcolor
and light reflection to achieve luminescence.

as well as a gift of graceful elegance.

Chubasco
Sandals
In Baja Chubasco means a hot wind or Hurricane. For the Chubasco crew, growing
up surfing, camping, diving etc. in Mexico was a way of life, still is. As
was wearing the classic Mexican sandal, the "huarache" - we were so "cool".
But it had a downside. The breaking-in stage was a bit painful, and while
they were great for style points, you really couldn't hike, reef-walk, or
get rad in them
