ca22: Baby Carrier Support Struts. Hardwood. H: 12"-12.25" (30.5 cm). 19th century. Kayanic Dayak complex (probably Modang), East Kalimantan, Borneo Island, Indonesia. Rare set of three baby carrier support struts, used to secure the back to the base, with a small contorted Aso figure carved on each piece. The Aso, a mythical dragon figure is a high status motif reserved only for noble families. |
