2905 Beaded Mantle. Glass seed beads, goat skin, trade cloth. H: 20” (back flap), W: 8.5”. 19th to early 20th century. Indonesia. Very unusual beaded mantle, originally described as coming from Borneo Island. It has structural elements similar to beadwork found on Borneo, but the colors and patterns do not fit know Dayak motifs. I suspect the piece comes from Timor or Alor Island.
